Before Lent begins, the Church invites us to pause, celebrate, and enjoy one another’s company—and Shrove Tuesday is a perfect occasion to do just that. Traditionally, ShroveTuesday is the final day before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent. The word “shrove” comes from an old term meaning to confess or be reconciled, making the day both joyful
and reflective as we prepare our hearts for the season ahead.

Over the years, rich and festive foods became part of the tradition as a practical (and delicious!) way to use up ingredients like eggs, butter, and sugar before the simpler disciplines of Lent began. While many churches serve pancakes, the spirit of the day is really about gathering at the table, giving thanks, and stepping together toward the holy season ahead. While we may be trading pancakes for donuts this year, the spirit of Shrove Tuesday remains the same: gathering around the table in joy and fellowship before we begin our Lenten journey.

Trinity Episcopal Church invites you to join us for a Shrove Tuesday Donut Dinner on Tuesday, February 18, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the church undercroft. Instead of pancakes, we will enjoy Scott’s special homemade donuts, lovingly prepared by our own choir director, along with delicious breakfast casseroles made by members of our choir. It promises to be a warm, joyful evening filled with good food, laughter, and fellowship.

All are welcome—no exceptions.
Come hungry, bring a friend, and join us as we celebratetogether and prepare to enter Lent as a community.
