Amy’s Office Hours: During the Truman holiday break, Amy will be maintaining her Thursday Office Hours at Take Root only. Beginning January 14th, the following schedule resumes: Monday—10 am-12 noon Truman SUB; Tuesday mornings—volunteer chaplain at hospital; Wednesday—1 – 3 pm Truman; Thursday 1:00 – 3:00—Take Root. You may also contact the Rev. Amy by email (email@example.com) or phone (815-901-3614).
Christmas Brunch and Dinner: Dennis and Diane will host a brunch in the undercroft after the 10 a.m. service on Christmas Day. Especially if you know someone who may be spending Christmas alone, please invite that person to come. This is/ a low-key, small group way to celebrate the holy birth. For a big party – The First United Methodist Church will host a real Christmas dinner, free to all, from 1-5 p.m. on Christmas Day.
Joanne’s Future Memorial: Joanne’s niece and nephew have requested that Joanne be cremated, in accordance with her wishes, and the ashes sent to them in California. Pending any additional directions from the family, Trinity will hold a memorial service for Joanne here in Kirksville on a date as yet to be determined in January or February 2019. The service will be followed by a reception, where everyone will have a chance to tell their best “Joanne story.” She touched all our lives and I believe she would enjoy a time of laughter and stories.
Help Us Close the Gap: at our Annual Meeting in January, we passed a budget for 2018 with a deficit of nearly $23,000. Due to your generosity, we have made up some of that deficit over the year, but not quite as much as we had hoped. Please consider a special contribution during December to help us close the gap on our deficit and end the year in a stronger financial position. An anonymous donor has offered to match every donation made to this campaign up to $2000, so whatever you are able to give will be doubled. You may send a check to Trinity or put one in the offering plate any time before Dec. 31st. Please note “Close the Gap” in the memo line.
Diocesan Statement on Gun Storage: This past spring, the Bishop and the Diocesan Council approved this statement on safe gun storage: “The Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri implores gun owners to lock and secure weapons against use by children or those suffering from agonizing despair. Please ensure that all guns in your home are locked and secured against use by children or those suffering agonizing despair.”
Food Depot: Canned meat/fish (Tuna, Salmon, Chicken).
Little Free Food Pantry: The Little Free Food Pantry is in need of nonperishable food that will stand up to freezing night time temperatures – think dry pasta mixes, cereals, nutrition bars, dry soup mixes, crackers. Bread products are fine – they can be used after freezing.
The deadline for next week’s WHAT is Noon, Thursday, December 27. Please send items to BOTH Kevin Minch at firstname.lastname@example.org and Natalie Alexander at email@example.com so that any relevant updates may also be included in the bulletin insert.
