Amy’s Office Hours: During the Truman holiday break, Amy will be maintaining her Thursday Office Hours at Take Root only.  Beginning January 14th, the following schedule resumes:  Monday—10 am-12 noon Truman SUB; Tuesday mornings—volunteer chaplain at hospital; Wednesday—1 – 3 pm Truman; Thursday 1:00 – 3:00—Take Root. You may also contact the Rev. Amy by email (amy.fallon08@gmail.com) or phone (815-901-3614).

Souper Bowl Sunday:  You may not care who wins the Super Bowl on February 3rd, but you can help the Pantry for Adair County (PAC) win at feeding our needy neighbors. Trinity will collect soup between Sunday January 13th and Sunday February 3rd for the pantry. Place your donations in the lavender tote at the back of the church. Thank you.

Children’s Items Needed:  With the growing number of children and families now coming to Trinity, we have need of a high chair or two and booster seats. If you have any of these items or know someone who does, and can donate them to Trinity, please speak to Amy or e-mail her at amy.fallon08@gmail.com.

Epiphany Thanks: Thanks to Krista Baker, Karen Croarkin, Karen Kubin, Diane Johnson, and anonymous cracker donors from former coffee hours for the fine feast on Epiphany!  Congratulations to Kate – the future baker of king cakes – for having the good fortune to discover the “baby” in her piece of cake.

Olive (Soule) Reiser (1927-2019): Our friend, Olive Reiser, died on January 1 at Boone Hospital in Columbia.  She and her two sons, Steve and Michael, have joined us at Trinity for worship many times.  The family will receive friends Friday, Jan. 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Travis-Noe.  Her service will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at noon at Travis-Noe with Rev. Carrol Davenport presiding.  Memorials are to the Adair County Humane Society.  Full obituary can be found at:  https://travis-noe.com/obits/archive/2019/1/1/olive-ruth-soule-reiser/.

Annual Meeting and Potluck: Will be held Jan. 27 after the service.  Sign up to bring a dish you’d like to share.  You’ll have a good meal, hear a little about what we’ve accomplished at Trinity in the past year, and have a peek at what the next year may hold for us.  Hope to see you!

Ministry Heads:  Friendly reminder that annual reports for each of your ministries are due now for inclusion in the written annual report for the parish, to be shared with the congregation at the annual meeting on January 27.  Please contact Diane Johnson if you have any concerns or questions.

Noonday Prayer Changes:  Noonday Prayer will be held January 15 and 22 at Twin Pines in the usual location (east side of the main dining room).  We will take a break after that for the planned move to the new building (The Pines at Jamison and LaHarpe).  Stay tuned for updates after January 28-30.

Bible Study on the Book of Psalms – on Tuesday nights from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm beginning on January 29 and running until February 26. All are welcome, come when you can, bring a friend!

Close the Gap Campaign Update:  The generosity of Trinity members and friends has been amazing. Although some money is still coming in, as of December 31st, we raised over $4500 BEFORE the anonymous donor match of $2000! That means we have cut into the deficit by at least $6500 or by 28%.  Thank you to everyone who has supported this campaign with their money and prayers. While we still have a ways to go, your contributions have helped Trinity start 2019 with a better financial foundation.

Diocesan Statement on Gun Storage: This past spring, the Bishop and the Diocesan Council approved this statement on safe gun storage: “The Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri implores gun owners to lock and secure weapons against use by children or those suffering from agonizing despair. Please ensure that all guns in your home are locked and secured against use by children or those suffering agonizing despair.”

Food Depot: Canned Soup (no cream soup).

Little Free Food Pantry:  The Little Free Food Pantry is in need of nonperishable food that will stand up to freezing night time temperatures – think dry pasta mixes, cereals, nutrition bars, dry soup mixes, crackers. Bread products are fine – they can be used after freezing.

Lectionary Readings:

The deadline for next week’s WHAT is Noon, Thursday, January 17.  Please send items to BOTH Kevin Minch at kevin.minch@gmail.com and Natalie Alexander at faymie@gmail.com so that any relevant updates may also be included in the bulletin insert. Please be mindful of the deadline when possible. Thanks!
