Carrol’s primary ministry is as a hospice chaplain with Hospice of Northeast Missouri, and she provides Sunday service coverage at a number of area churches.
Amy is away this weekend, attending a retreat at Holy Wisdom Monastery, in Madison, WI. Holy Wisdom Monastery is an ecumenical community of Benedictine Sisters. Amy is an Oblate (associate member) of this Monastery and attends a weekend retreat there once a year.

Hat & Mitten Tree
Our annual “mitten tree” will go up on Christ the King Sunday, November 24. All donated mittens, gloves, hats, and scarves will be taken to the Salvation Army on Wednesday, December 11. Parents and caregivers will pick up gifts, including our hats, scarves, gloves, and mittens, for their families beginning December 16. All, shoppers, knitters, loomers, and crocheters, are urged to contribute their stuff!
Plate Offering–Community Christmas Dinner
Our next outreach plate offering will take place on Sunday, November 17 and will benefit the Kirksville Community Christmas Dinner, a local nonprofit that provides a HUGE free dinner and festivities for around 500 people each year, including families who are most in need. Anyone can attend; many of us do! This year’s party is from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, December 16, at the Truman State Student Union Building. Your donation and lots of volunteers help make this a true Christmas joy every year. Check them out on Facebook.
Stewardship Season is here.
Stewardship is the word the Church uses to refer to a thoughtful, prayerful consideration of what each individual or household can commit of time, talent, and money to support their local church. Some churches are able to fund their entire budget based on parishioners’ pledges of financial support. Others, like Trinity, look to their diocese to help make up the shortfall. But no matter what the state of their budget, parishioners’ financial support is a critical part of the life of the church.
This week you will receive your stewardship package in the mail. (If you do not receive one, please ask Amy or Krista, the Bishop’s Warden, for them.) Pledging to contribute a specific amount of money or increasing a pledge amount can be scary. We never know what the coming year might bring, and may be anxious if we can not fulfill our pledge. But making or increasing a pledge is meant to be a joyous, grateful spiritual practice. It is a joy to gve back to God just a bit of what God has so generously given us.
As you think about your financial commitment to Trinity, we offer this prayer to help in your discernment:
Abundant God, you made us in your image and breathed in us a spirit of generosity that is both gift and response. Move us, we pray, to give as we have received-abundantly, generously, and joyfully that our common ministry may ever bear witness to your unfailing grace. In the name of the Three in whom we are One. Amen.
