Coffee Hour Help Needed:  We do not currently have anyone hosting Coffee Hour this Sunday.  If that is something you would be willing to do, please let Carrol know.  It doesn’t have to be anything fancy!

177^th Meeting of Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri, convenes this Friday, November 18, 2016, at the DoubleTree Hotel Convention Center in Chesterfield, MO. “These two days in November provide an occasion for doing necessary business for our diocese, but they also give us a chance to be together, to worship, and to collaborate for mission,” wrote Bishop Wayne in his letter to convention participants.

The theme for this Convention will be The Dying and Rising Church. The Rev. Canon Elizabeth (Liz) Easton, Canon to the Ordinary in the Diocese of Nebraska, will be present to help frame honest conversations about challenges facing all our congregations—and the hope and new possibilities available to us.

Your delegates to the convention are Julie Seidler and Krista Baker. Transition Pastor The Rev. Carrol Davenport will also attend to represent Trinity Kirksville.

Trying to Make Sense of the Post-Election Discourse?  Please consider making use of the excellent resources of the Episcopal Church in the post-election environment. The Episcopal Public Policy Network is a grassroots network of Episcopalians across the country dedicated to carrying out the Baptismal Covenant call to “strive for justice and peace” through the active ministry of public policy advocacy. The EPPN is a part of The Episcopal Church Office of Government Relations located in Washington, DC. The actions, programs, and ministry of the Office of Government Relations are based entirely on policies approved by the Church meeting in General Convention or by the Executive Council. They may be found at http://advocacy.episcopalchurch.org/.

Adult Formation:  Adult Formation begins again on Wednesday, November 30, at 6:30 p.m. We will be studying John Dominic Crossan’s book How to Read the Bible and Still be a Christian.  The book explores the troubling and violent imagery of the Bible, offering guidance for faithful people who struggle with these passages and challenges Christians to speak about their discomfort in community with others who share that same unease.  You can buy the book in whichever format you prefer here.  It is available new, used, and on Kindle.  Please join us for what should be a lively discussion!

Archdeacon Mark Sluss Visit:  Now that we are going to have a deacon among us for 6 months there will likely be questions about what a deacon does and how that role differs from what a priest does. We have invited The Venerable Mark Sluss, the diocesan archdeacon, to come for a visit. Mark will be here on December 4th for worship. He will preach and serve as a deacon in the service, and then talk with us at coffee hour about the role of a deacon.

Christmas Gift Tree:  Join others in the Trinity family in decorating our traditional Christmas Gift Tree with donations of hats, mittens, scarves, and socks. These items will be taken to the Salvation Army prior to Christmas. The tree will be up on All Saints Sunday, Nov 6, to accept your offerings. We will gather at Twin Pines on Tuesdays after Noonday Prayer and Bible Study to spend time with one another knitting/crocheting/weaving items for the tree. Starting Tuesday November 1 through Tuesday December 6 we will work together from 2:30 to 4:00. We will have yarns and instructions available. Please join us. Contact Krista with any questions.

Final Plate Outreach for 2016:  Our final plate outreach offering for 2016 will be this Sunday, Nov. 20, for Helping Hands Mission.  This fall they have been feeding more people than ever before; many of the new clients are students and young families struggling to make ends meet.  Please give generously.

Food Depot Wish List:  Our Food Depot items for November are anything you think would provide Thanksgiving Cheer, and one of the Food Depot’s most appreciated donations, Peanut Butter/Jelly.  Many families in Adair County can have a happier Thanksgiving thanks to your donations!  Please give generously.
