ProductDetailAAdult Formation:  We have two Adult formation topics on tap in upcoming weeks.  The first one will be the ChurchNext.tv course, “My Church is Not Dying:  Finding Hope in the Mainline Church” by Greg Garrett, author of the book by the same name.  It explores the growth of qualitative depth in faith communities despite the national trend of declining enrollments.  We will study this for two weeks, on Feb. 15 and Feb. 22.

Following this course, we will take a couple of weeks off for Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent, then present the course “What Vibrant Congregations Do,” by Mike Durall, starting March 15.  Please join us on Wednesday nights for one or both of these courses!

Coffee Hour Coordinator:  For many years Diane Johnson has coordinated coffee hour – an important ministry at Trinity. Now that she has taken on the role of Bishop’s Warden, it is time for her to hand coffee hour to someone else. If you have questions about what that involves, please don’t hesitate to contact Diane.

Food for Kids Coordinator:  Bri Rhodes has been our coordinator for Food For Kids the last few years, but now that she is in North Dakota, we need someone else who will take on this role. This has been an important part of our outreach to the community for many years. If this is something you think you could do, please let Carrol know.

CalendarSchedule Coordinator:  We are looking for someone who would be willing to take over the task of putting the various Trinity schedules “in the cloud” as Google Documents.  It’s a simple task, only takes an hour or two approximately once or twice a quarter, and Maria will be happy to teach you.  It’s an important ministry that makes things like our Worship Leadership Schedule easily available on our smart phones, which is handy on Sunday mornings!  Please contact Maria if you are willing to take on this simple but much appreciated ministry.

church-office-signOffice Hours:  From Our Transition Pastor – Clergy hold office hours for many reasons, and one of those is to be available to people who may not want to call for an appointment.  We don’t have office space at Trinity, but Maria and I have both been holding community office hours at Take Root Cafe. We have both been able to engage in good conversation with some of you from Trinity as well as people from the community.  We also plan to hold some office hours on Truman’s campus. My office hours are usually on Fridays and Maria’s are usually on Wednesdays. We always post a time and place on Facebook. If you are not on Facebook and you would like to know when those hours are, please let us know.  This week I will be at Take Root on Friday around 3:30pm and will hang out until Trinity folks meet there for dinner at 5:30pm. I hope to see you there!

2016 Giving Statements: 2016 Giving Statements are available! Please pick up your 2016 giving statement from the small sack on the table at the back of the church. Look over it carefully and please let the treasurer know if you see any problems. Thanks! Krista

Registry BookParish Register: Historically parish registers have been a norm in Episcopal churches. In recent times we have not maintained this information here at Trinity. As part of working with the old files and parish records, we are recognizing the value this provides. It also helps a great deal when we are asked how many people are on our register. Each year we provide this information to the Episcopal Church. We would like to be as correct as possible. To this end we are starting an effort to create a current parish register. Please take a few minutes to complete your entry in the folder in the undercroft. Thank you!

Bishop’s Visit Rescheduled: Due to an unforeseen scheduling conflict, the Bishop will not be able to make his visitation to Kirksville in April. It will likely be early in 2018 when another visit will be scheduled. On Saturday, May 13th there is a confirmation/reception service at the Cathedral. If you would like to be confirmed or received, please speak to Carrol, and she will make arrangements for you to be part of that service.

Food Depot:

Our Food Depot items for February:  Peanut Butter & Jelly; Cereal (regular size cereal boxes only, please)

iphoneHave an Old iPhone?:  Do you have an old iPhone 4 or 5 that is gathering dust, or shoved in a drawer, because you bought an iPhone 6 or 7?  If so, drop it off to Maria Evans.  She would like to convert it to a listening device for the hearing-impaired to make available at church.

Save The Date:

  • Tuesday, February 28, 6pm – Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
  • Wednesday, March 1, 7pm – Holy Eucharist, Ash Wednesday
  • Sunday, March 12, After Coffee Hour – Bishop’s Committee (Open to any person who wishes to attend.)
