July Adult Formation

July 12 – Julia DeLancey

This Adult Formation discussion will focus on the idea of disability.  It will look at some various ways we can think about the concept of “disability” and how those affect how we interact with and care for one another.  Some additional resources for further exploration will also be made available.

July 19 – Joni Perry

Joni will lead a discussion about mental health – how we can support those around in who are struggling with mental health issues as well as how we can get them the kind of help that might be necessary.

July 26 – Carrol Davenport

We will talk about how we can support and be present with people who are seriously or terminally ill as well as how we support people in grief.

Outreach Plate Collection:  July 16 – will be for the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.  Habitat is currently retrofitting a home for a person in a wheelchair.  They have another remodel in the planning stages for 2017 and a new build in 2018.  Help support affordable housing in Kirksville!

Upcoming Recovery Service:  On Monday, July 17th at 7:00 we will gather for a recovery service – a Eucharistic service based on the 12 steps. The occasion is the 1 year sobriety date for Talie Alexander, and Carrol will preach about hope for us all as we are always being made new in Christ. Please join us for this service of celebration.

Coffee Hour: We are in need of some coffee hour helpers for the month of July.  There are crackers and several gluten free products in the kitchen.  Grab some cookies or donuts at the store and host a coffee.  July 9, 16, 23, and 30 are open.  Thanks to all who serve.

yoga-frogsSecond Saturdays Yoga:  Second Saturdays Yoga – Dust off your mat and join us for Second Saturdays Yoga on July 8 at 11:45 a.m. in the undercroft.  $5 donation goes to the building fund loan.
A New Ministry:  The interim has given us opportunity to expand the ministry of lay people here at Trinity. Before the Rev. Maria Evans finished her time here in her role as deacon, she trained a group of lay Eucharistic Visitors.  While clergy will likely continue to visit those who can’t be with us, the ministry of taking communion will now be a shared ministry.  Here are the people who have been trained to do this ministry:  Diane Johnson, Dennis Goodman, Joanne Harwood, Talie Alexander, Krista Baker and Karen and Gene Croarkin.

The Communication Committee:  The Communication Committee is seeking new members to replace members who have moved on to new locations and new duties.  The Committee is primarily responsible for maintaining the WHAT, the Trinity Website, and Social Media.  Never used these tools before?  Don’t worry, we’ll teach you.  Owning a computer and having a good Internet connection are a plus.  Send expressions of interest or questions to Kevin Minch at kevin.minch@gmail.com.

Mini Food Pantry

Food for Kids:  Trinity will staff Food 4 Kids at Brashear and Jaycee Parks this coming week, July 10-14.  We still need one person to volunteer to work at Jaycee Park on Tuesday, June 11, from 11:45 to 1 p.m.  Please let Diane Johnson or Dana Elam know if you can do this.
Little Food Pantry:  Thank you for your generous contributions of food and cash. Many people use this resource!  We can use canned goods, bottled water, juice paks, feminine hygiene products, toothbrushes, etc.  If you are too busy to shop, Dennis Goodman will do it for you! By the way, our LFFP donations do not conflict with our support of the Christian Community Food Depot.  Please continue to bring those items as you are able and put them in the baskets at the back of the church.
Rummage Sale:  Annual Rummage Sale coming up on Saturday, July 29!  It’s a great help to us if you can price your donations with stickers as you go through your stuff.
Food Depot:  Our Food Depot items for July: Boxed Potato Items (Mashed, Au Gratin, etc.)

Lectionary Readings:

Zechariah 9:9-12
Psalm 145:8-15
Romans 7:15-25a
Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30
