A New Vicar:  The Bishop’s Committee is pleased to announce that the Rev. Amy Fallon has accepted our call to be Trinity’s new vicar.  Rev. Fallon has five years of successful parish leadership experience in Hartford, Connecticut and Tiffin, Ohio (population 17,000+).  In addition, she has substantial ecumenical experience in campus ministry – first, as university vicar, the Episcopal Church at the University of Connecticut, and most recently, as campus pastor at Grace Place Campus Ministry at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, a combined ELCA Lutheran-Episcopal post.  She brings energy, creativity, and a deep commitment to spreading the word of the Gospel to share with us. Rev. Fallon’s first Sunday with us will be August 20.  We are indeed blessed – and, as Rev. Joe Chambers, Canon to the Ordinary, consistently reminded us over the last 15 months, we rejoice that “God is in the process!”

Adult Formation: Adult formation will continue this week, and again on July 26.

July Adult Formation

July 19 – Joni Perry

Joni will lead a discussion about mental health – how we can support those around in who are struggling with mental health issues as well as how we can get them the kind of help that might be necessary.

July 26 – Carrol Davenport

We will talk about how we can support and be present with people who are seriously or terminally ill as well as how we support people in grief.

Vacation Bible School:  Time for VBS! In conjunction with the Presbyterian Church, we will have our Vacation Bible School for ages 3-12 at the Presbyterian Church this coming week, July 18-21, from 9 AM to noon. We’ll have a campout Friday night and sing at both churches on the morning of the 23rd. E-mail Michele Yoder myoder@kirksville.k12.mo.us with questions or if you would like to help.  Please call the church office to register. Trinity will be responsible for providing snacks for VBS on Thursday and Friday. if this is something you can provide, please let Carrol know.

collection-plateOutreach Plate Collection:  The Outreach Committee asks for your contributions to our local Habitat for Humanity for this month’s plate offering this Sunday, July 16.  At the June Bishop’s Committee meeting, members voted to support our local Habitat group in prayer, in distributing the “statement of interest” that precedes an application for a project, and in encouraging volunteer and financial contributions.  Habitat has just redone a home to accommodate a wheelchair, has a remodel project planned for this fall, and will be building a home in 2018.

Upcoming Recovery Service:  On Monday, July 17th at 7:00 we will gather for a recovery service – a Eucharistic service based on the 12 steps. The occasion is the 1 year sobriety date for Talie Alexander, and Carrol will preach about hope for us all as we are always being made new in Christ. Please join us for this service of celebration.

The Communication Committee:  The Communication Committee is seeking new members to replace members who have moved on to new locations and new duties.  The Committee is primarily responsible for maintaining the WHAT, the Trinity Website, and Social Media.  Never used these tools before?  Don’t worry, we’ll teach you.  Owning a computer and having a good Internet connection are a plus.  Send expressions of interest or questions to Kevin Minch at kevin.minch@gmail.com.
