Welcome to New Students:  Welcome to all new and returning students at any of the post-secondary educational institutions in Kirksville!  We value your presence in our community and in our lives.  And we will pray for you and all who work with you.  From the Book of Common Prayer:  O Eternal God, bless all schools, colleges, and universities, that they may be lively centers for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom, and grant that those who teach and those who learn may find you to be the source of all truth, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Rescheduling of Second Saturdays Yoga:  In order to accommodate the Bob Reed memorial service, Second Saturdays Yoga moved to THIS SATURDAY, August 19, at 11:45 a.m. in the undercroft.  Thank you, gracious yoga people!

Thank you!:  to the marvelous team who helped get everything done for the Bob Reed memorial service last Saturday – Krista and Tim Baker, Karen and Gene Croarkin, Lisa Hickman, Sally West, Stephen Carr, Dana Elam, Talie Alexander, Julie Seidler, Wynne Wilbur, Sandra Fleak, Dennis Goodman, Laura Gruber Harden, Jessie Cragg, Ian Lindevald.  Special thanks to Rev. Amy Fallon, for working with the family from her home in Illinois and helping us while she was in the throes of moving.  The words of the Venerable Bruce Bower, Archdeacon of West Missouri diocese, reminded everyone of Bob’s special qualities.  It takes a village to serve a family – and we did it.  One family member said that she was much more at peace with Bob’s passing after she experienced our church.

New Peer Minister:  Introducing –  Cody Pease, our new peer minister for Episcopal Campus Ministry.  Cody will also represent young adults as a member of the Bishop’s Committee.  Ian Lindevald will be the new faculty contact for the group.

Bishop’s Committee Meeting:  Bishop’s Committee meets after coffee hour this Sunday.  Members include Natalie Alexander, Dana Elam, Laura Gruber Harden, Howard Hickman,  Diane Johnson, Ian Lindevald, and Cody Pease.  Meetings are open to any member of the parish.

Art Auction:  We are gathering wonderful items for the upcoming 100th Year Celebration Art Auction. Plan to be with us on Saturday, August 26th in the parish basement for an opportunity to purchase art made by locally and nationally known artists, several from Trinity. The church will be open at 2:00 for tours and refreshments. The auction begins at 3:00. Bring your family and friends! If you have any questions contact Sally West or Krista Baker.

Electrical Work:  Electrical work continues in the church this next week – Take time to appreciate the new lighting in the kitchen and undercroft as well as the new (safer) outlets available throughout.  Next week, work begins upstairs.  This effort to replace old wiring in the older part of the church is financed 50/50 by a grant from the Church Assistance Endowment Fund at the diocesan level and funds from Trinity.

Mid-Year Giving Statements:  As we pass the mid-year point of our 2017 year, we acknowledge all that God has done for us. Our continued commitment to stewardship is one of the many ways we stay faithful to God and our parish. In acknowledgement of that, your mid-year giving statement is available on the table at the back of the church for you to pick up. If you have any questions, please get in touch with Krista at kristab@cableone.net

Mini Food Pantry

Little Food Pantry: Donations are needed.  Nonperishables, hygiene products, fresh produce that can withstand summer heat.  Please do not bring bread at this time – water condenses in the bread bag and mold follows.  Fall weather will be better for that.

Food Depot:  Our Food Depot items for August: Cereal

Lectionary Readings:

Isaiah 56:1,6-8
Psalm 67
Romans 11:1-2a, 29-32
Matthew 15: (10-20), 21-28

The deadline for next week’s WHAT is Noon, Wednesday, August 23.  Note this is a day earlier than normal!  Please send items to BOTH Kevin Minch at kevin.minch@gmail.com and Natalie Alexander at faymie@gmail.com so that any relevant updates may also be included in the bulletin insert. Please be mindful of the deadline when possible.  Thanks!
