surveyFrom our Senior Warden, Howard Hickman:  Thanks to all who participated in the August 28 Listening Session.  Anyone from Trinity may anonymously now post answers to the Listening Session 1 questions discussed with our August 28 group.  All data are anonymous.  To participate, a person should go to:  https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/VPFBHN8.  This option allows the participant to enter key concepts, limited to 100 characters per question.  If someone desires to make a more lengthy response, he/she may pick up a hard copy of the questions downstairs in the church and return it to the box on the piano.  We ask that all participants turn in their responses by October 10 so that the Search Committee can design the next step in the process.

2000px-flag-map_of_tanzaniaThank you so much to everyone who helped with and participated in The Rev. Canon Anderson Madimilo’s visit last weekend.  It was a great time and we think Anderson really enjoyed his time in Kirksville.  Special thanks to those who drove, hosted, cooked for, and otherwise organized or helped Anderson and his time with us!  If you would like to send a card to Anderson to thank him for coming, please bring it to church this Sunday (October 2) and give it to Julia DeLancey; she’ll mail them all together in one envelope.  You can also friend him on Facebook.  Thanks again so much, everyone!

Episcopal Campus Ministry (ECM) met last Sunday for a meal and discussion. Thanks so much to Sarah Maddox and Jonathan Vieker for providing us with a delicious dinner! ECM had a great discussion about Colin Kaepernick, the Black Lives Matter movement, and what it means to be a Protestant (following examples of classic Biblical protesters such as Daniel). Our next meeting will be on Sunday, October 9th, at 6:00 p.m.. Jessie Cragg agreed to provide a meal for that meeting, but we have more slots available!  Talk to Melissa Janney for more details.  Thank you all for your continued support!

Church Clean Up Day is Saturday October 8th starting 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Many hands will make the work light. There is a signup sheet in the undercroft. Sign up early to secure your favorite task!

croix_de_taizeWe will be doing a Taizé service Sunday night, Oct. 9, at 7:00 p.m. for the feast day of St. Francis.  Plan to join us for an evening of singing, candle lighting, prayer, and silence.  Is your life feeling too busy?  Upcoming mid-terms got you down?  Need a little room to breathe?  Come join us as we quietly celebrate creation, animals, and peace!

The BABIES are on their way! Brian and Kerstin Stitt are having twins and we want to help. Join us at Coffee Hour on October 16 to celebrate. Please no “gifts” but instead a pledge of a meal for them and their helpers for after the babies arrive. Gift certificates would be fine too. Join us to wish them the very best.

communion_mdHome Eucharist, Friday, October 7, 6:00 p.m. will be at the home of Joanne Harwood, Twin Pines Nursing Home. (Note the time is 1/2 hour later than the usual start time for home Eucharist!)  We will gather in the back of the main dining room on the first floor. Please let Joanne or Krista know if you plan to attend.

Adult formation continues, at 6:30 p.m. Come hear Scott Alberts talk about how music supports the liturgy and our spirituality!  This week we discussed the parts of the liturgy that can be sung or chanted, and learned what all those “S” numbers in the hymnal are all about, as well as some history and the canon pertaining to music in our Canons and Constitution of the church.

Kirsty Imes and Stephanie Zimbelman, former members of Trinity, will be married on October 29th in Estes Park, Colorado. If you would like to join others from Trinity in making a contribution to the local Christian Community Food Depot in their honor, we are gathering the money in a basket in the undercroft. Even if you don’t make a contribution, please sign the card for them in the undercroft.

Food Depot Wish List:  Our Food Depot items for October are Canned Fruit and Jars of Applesauce.  Be creative!  So many people donate starches and carbs to the Food Depot; let’s liven things up with some sweet fruity goodness!  Watch for sales–prices on fruit don’t go up for another month or so!

Episcopal News Service Tidbits:  This week, Episcopal News Service stories include a report from the Presiding Bishop’s visit with faith groups at Standing Rock, ND opposing the Dakota Access Pipeline, as well as  a video from that visit.
