Amy by email (amy.fallon08@gmail.com) or phone (815-901-3614).

Bria’s Baptism: Many thanks to Natalie Alexander, Krista and Tim Baker, Jessie Cragg, Karen Croarkin, Laura Gruber Harden, Joanne Harwood, Diane Johnson, Julie Seidler, and Sally West for preparing the sumptuous lunch following Bria’s baptism last Sunday.  It was wonderful to be with all those celebrating Bria’s big day!

Reclaiming Jesus:  Ecumenical Adult Formation—Reclaiming Jesus—begins on 6 September, at 6 p.m., at Take Root Cafe.  We will be joined by the Methodists and Presbyterians.

Outreach:  Cereal is on sale at many stores in our area.  Please consider picking up some for use in the Little Free Food Pantry, the basket at the back of the church for Christian Community Food Depot, and other charitable uses.

August 19 Plate Offering:  Last Sunday, August 19, our plate offering was for Episcopal Migration Ministries, an important national outreach project to help stranded individuals and families in the current immigration crisis.  Please feel free to put an offering marked “EMM” in the plate this Sunday, August 26, if you missed doing it last Sunday.

For those who wish to further commit to help for refugees, we suggest the following from EMM:

Beginning Sunday, August 26th, Episcopal Migration Ministries will join faith communities across the country to pray for refugees as the Administration plans to continue drastic cuts to refugee resettlement. We invite you to join us in this act of solidarity and welcome for our refugee brothers and sisters. Pray, then act. Visit @theeppn and advocacy.episcopalchurch.org to take action and demand that your elected officials support a robust refugee resettlement program.

Kickoff Weekend is Coming Up: not football, but campus and outreach ministries!  On Friday, Aug. 24, we will gather at the courthouse to share a potluck picnic at 6 p.m. prior to enjoying the Deadwood Summer on the Square concert at 7 p.m.  Bring a friend (and a chair).  On Saturday, Aug. 25, we will have a booth at the second annual Community Roots Festival on the square.  And on Sunday, Aug. 26, we’ll have a special service and coffee hour to commission our musicians and welcome our students, faculty, and staff.

Community Roots Festival:  One more volunteer is needed to staff Trinity’s booth at the Community Roots Festival this Saturday (August 25) from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.  Could you spend one hour helping to distribute information about what we do – and assisting young children in making their own “musical instruments”?  Please contact Diane if you are available at dianetjohnson2@gmail.com.

If you play a portable musical instrument (trumpet, guitar, clarinet, kazoo, etc.), feel free to drop by between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. and illustrate what it means to make a joyful noise!  Our booth will be in front of Timeless Treasures.

Second Saturdays Yoga:  Second Saturday Yoga is on vacation until September.

Food Depot:  Our Food Depot items for September – Sauces and Condiments

Garden overflowing?  Consider bringing extra produce to the Little Free Food Pantry!  The wire basket underneath the pantry is perfect for cucumbers, tomatoes, and other good stuff.  And it’s usually gone within a few hours.

Save the Dates:  October 7 (Liturgy at the Lake and Pet Blessing); October 28 (Bishop George Wayne Smith annual visit to Trinity)

Lectionary Readings:

Joshua 24:1-2a,14-18
Psalm 34:15-22
Ephesians 6:10-20
John 6:56-69
