Christmas Needs – It has come to our attention that about a dozen teenagers from families using Victim Support Services shelter and services could use gift cards to buy things they really want and need.  If you can provide a gift card (Walmart, Amazon, or Visa prepaid), please contact Diane Johnson at dianetjohnson2@gmail.com.  Thank you!

December 17 Plate Collection:  Plate Offering this Sunday for CCD, Community Christmas Dinner.  Volunteers from across the community provide a free Christmas dinner and Christmas cheer to anyone who wishes to come to Truman’s Student Union on Sunday, Dec. 17, at 5 p.m.  Once contributions pay for food, remaining money is used for small presents for those who attend.  Plan to attend – and plan to give generously on Sunday!  They do not solicit contributions at the dinner itself.

When Christmas Isn’t Merry – the holidays can be a challenge for some people experience loss and other sorts of difficulties. First United Methodist Church, 300 E. Washington St, Kirksville will offer a service of Light in the Darkness, December 17, 2017 at 5 pm. This is open to the whole community and may be the consolation you are looking for at this time.

#Advent Word:  For our Advent devotional, Trinity will be joining Anglicans around the world in an on-line Advent meditation series. Once you sign up, each day from Dec 3 – Dec 25, you will receive a word, an image and a brief meditation about the word. You are then invited to share your own thoughts on the word, either in prose or with an image of your own.

You can receive your daily meditation by signing up at www.adventword.org/signup. You can receive the meditation via e-mail, and will be also given options to receive your meditation via Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. For those of you who don’t want to use technology, here is a list of all the words for the season.  We will have an Advent Table at coffee hour for people who want to discuss their AdventWord expereince face to face.
