Amy’s Office Hours:  Amy will hold weekly “office” hours on Mondays from 10 am – 12 pm at Trinity, Tuesdays from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm  at Sweet Expressions Coffee Shop and Wedensdays from 2 pm – 4 pm at Truman, either at Jazzman’s or in the Hub. You do not need an appointment for any of these times, just drop by. If you would like to schedule an appointment, please call or text her at 815-901-3614.

Liturgy at the Lake / Pet Blessing: This Sunday is SPECIAL – Liturgy at the Lake at 10 a.m. at the Point Shelter at Thousand Hills, followed by Blessing of the Animals at 11 a.m., and potluck thereafter.  Come join in the fun!

National Anti-Bullying Prevention Month:  October is National Anti-Bullying Prevention Month.  Many churches in Kirksville will display a Christian-oriented anti-bullying sign.  We will join with them and add our own Trinity message – be on the lookout for it.

Ministerial Meeting:  Trinity will host a local ministerial meeting Tuesday, October 3, from approximately 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the undercroft.

Fall Cleanup:  Saturday, October 7, 9 a.m. to noon or thereabouts.  Many hands make light work, so donate as much time as you can to help spruce up the outside and inside of the church.  Even 30 minutes will make a big difference!  College students welcome!  See Ian Lindevald for more information.

Second Saturdays Yoga:  Second Saturday Yoga coming up on Saturday, October 14, at 11:45 a.m. in the undercroft.  $5 minimum donation to the building fund.

New Coffee Brewer:  Thank you to Karen and Gene Croarkin for the sparkling new “Minnesota” coffee brewer in the undercroft.  It makes 30 cups at a time, a real blessing for some of our larger or longer gatherings.  Woo hoo!

Outreach Plate Collection: Our next outreach plate collection will be on October 15, to aid Episcopal Relief and Development efforts in hurricane relief (Harvey, Irma, and Maria).

Altar Guild:  Altar Guild is looking for new members. The Altar Guild is responsible for getting the altar ready for each service which includes changing the paraments if needed, getting the communion service ready, making sure there are flowers of some kind, straightening the pews and hymnals, vacuuming, putting everything away after the service, and other assorted tasks needed each Sunday. Extra duties occasionally include special services like those around Easter, and weddings and funerals if communion is being served. This is a necessary and rewarding ministry that takes about 45 minutes to an hour approximately once a month. Anyone interested (male or female!) can contact Amy or Wynne Wilbur martinewilbur@gmail.com.

Sharing Your Time and Talent:  Krista Baker will be resigning her position as Clerk/Treasurer for Trinity as of October 31, 2017.  Krista has served faithfully and well – and deserves to follow her heart into her next adventure!  She has promised to help train the volunteer(s) who will take her place. If you feel a tug to serve as either clerk or treasurer, please contact Diane Johnson.  You do not have to be a member of the Bishop’s Committee to serve in this position but you would have to be available for most Bishop’s Committee meetings (usually the second Sunday of each month after coffee hour).

More Service Opportunities:  Please be thinking of the elections we will have at the annual meeting at the end of January.  We will be looking for two members of the Bishop’s Committee (terms end for Natalie Alexander and Howard Hickman) as well as a delegate to the Diocesan Convention and two alternates for that position.

Little Food Pantry: We distributed over 60 bottles of cold water to folks during last Saturday’s Red Barn festivities.  There are many good stories about the LFFP.   Here’s one – a boy about nine years old came by with his mother to see that, of his four boxes of macaroni and cheese, two had been taken.  He was thrilled – and proudly told us that this was his second time giving.

Food Depot:  Our Food Depot items for October: Canned Fruit/Applesauce.

Lectionary Readings:

Ezekiel 18:1-4,25-32
Psalm 25:1-8
Philippians 2:1-13
Matthew 21:23-32
