DAHLOGO-1Deaconess Anne Visitors Supper: Deaconess Anne House (St. Louis) and the Episcopal Service Corps – Deaconess Anne House is a member of the national Episcopal Service Corps (http://www.esc-stl.org/ and http://episcopalservicecorps.org/) .  Deaconess Anne House is located in Old North St. Louis and provides a place where new college graduates may explore a year of spiritual growth, discernment, and service following the Rule of St. Benedict. This Sunday Trinity will be blessed by the presence of Rev. Rebecca Ragland (the former executive director of Deaconess Anne House) and three interns from the current program.  They will join us for a vegetarian meal on Saturday, April 29, at 5:30 in the undercroft and for worship and coffee hour on Sunday, April 30.   College students from the Methodist and Presbyterian college groups will join ECM students from Trinity for the Saturday meal.  Everyone is welcome to the meal, service, and/or coffee hour.  The plate offering on April 30 will go to the mission and work of the Deaconess Anne House.  Make checks out to Trinity with Deaconess Anne in the memo line so that we can send them one check.

Bob Reed’s birthday:  Bob Reed’s birthday is May 3.  Bob is residing in Kansas now but we want him to know that we still remember him.  Be sure to sign the card in the undercroft or send a message to him for his day.   We also will have the first 2017 meeting of the finance committee at 4 p.m. that day – somehow fitting for one of Kirksville’s best finance guys!

CoffeeCoffee Hour Volunteers Needed:  Volunteers for Coffee Hour are still needed in May!  Please sign-up or contact Karen Croarkin.

Adult Formation:  We will have another offering in Adult Formation beginning Wednesday, May 10 starting at 6:30 p.m. We will be sharing facilitator duties while reading and studying the book “Why?  Making Sense of God’s Will,” by Adam Hamilton.  You can purchase the book new, used, or on Kindle here.  The book is only 4 chapters, and we will meet for 4 weeks.  The author discusses the “hard questions” of life, and confronts the “bad theology” that we often hear when we are experiencing the difficult situations of life.  Please join us!

fill-the-ford-day-with-arlaFill the Ford:  It’s almost time again for Fill the Ford, and time to give Kirksville Hy-Vee shoppers the opportunity to give generously to the Christian Community Food Depot.  We will be holding this year’s event on Saturday May 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in front of Hy-Vee.  Please take a moment to sign up to volunteer for this year’s event here.

Helping Migrants in NEMO:  Over the past 10 years, immigrants from all over the world have begun to call Northeast Missouri home. Many of them have suffered incredible hardships and come here seeking a better life for themselves and their families. Not only do they seek a better life, they also contribute to strengthening the economy, forming a valuable work force, and bringing culture and diversity to the area.  May 1 – A celebration of the contributions of past and present immigrants to the NE Missouri region is planned for May Day, May 1, from 5-7 p.m. on the courthouse lawn in Kirksville.  At this time, we believe that Trinity will be the backup location in case of rain (details are yet to be finalized).  Please plan to attend to lend your presence to a community of inclusiveness and acceptance for all.

Food for Kids:  Summer is rapidly approaching, and so is our (usually week-long) commitment to feeding kids in the Kirksville parks.  If you would be willing to chair or co-chair this Trinity effort, please contact Diane Johnson  (text or phone) at 349-9137.

Food Depot:

Our Food Depot items for April:  Food stretchers – pasta, noodles, rice, and beans.

Asset Mapping:  Our final week of Asset Mapping will be Sunday, May 7. Take a week off and enjoy the visit from DAH!  If you would like to submit assets, but were not at church for the earlier sessions, please send your submissions to Maria Evans and we will include them!

Lectionary Readings:

The deadline for next week’s WHAT is Noon, Thursday, May 5.  Please send items to BOTH Kevin Minch at kevin.minch@gmail.com and Natalie Alexander at faymie@gmail.com so that any relevant updates may also be included in the bulletin insert. Please be mindful of the deadline when possible.  Thanks!
