Second Saturdays Yoga:  11:45 a.m. on February 10.  $5 suggested donation for the Little Free Food Pantry.

Ash Wednesday: February 14th this year, marks the beginning of the season of Lent. During this season, we focus our attention on the ways that we failed to follow Jesus, and we reaffirm our commitments to change our lives in a more godly direction. There will be two very different opportunities to make a good beginning to this Lenten season.
  • We will celebrate a traditional Ash Wednesday Service at Trinity on February 14 at 7 pm. Holy Eucharist with imposition of Ashes.
  • We will offer Ashes2Go at Truman on February 14 in the SUB from 11 am – 1 pm. This is a brief individual opportunity to receive ashes and a prayer.

Habitat for Humanity: You may have noticed that we have included Habitat in our prayers of the people on Sunday.  We decided last summer to be one of the churches in town that would partner with Habitat.  We will pray for Habitat’s success in our area.  Their mission is to provide affordable decent housing to people who would ordinarily not qualify for bank loans.  Potential applicants must fill out a brief statement of interest and then a Habitat volunteer works with them on a formal application.  The family selection committee of our local Habitat group bases their decision on three criteria:  level of need, willingness to partner, an ability to pay an interest-free mortgage with affordable monthly payments.  This is a great deal for people who have enough money to cover rent but not enough to make a down payment, for people with special needs, for people who work hard to support their families with minimum-wage jobs.   Please be praying and thinking about people you know whose lives might be changed by working on and owning a Habitat home.

Thank You’s: Big thank you’s to our outgoing leaders – Krista Baker (who has served for the past several years as our clerk/treasurer and for the past three years as our diocesan representative); Natalie Alexander (who has served for the past three years on the bishop’s committee, as co-junior warden for a time, and as co-chair of the search committee), and Howard Hickman (who served as bishop’s warden and as a member of the search committee).  And special pre-Valentine thanks to two sweeties who scooped the walks BEFORE Morning Prayer this past Wednesday  (Ian Lindevald and Gene Croarkin)!

Noonday Prayer at Twin Pines:  on Tuesdays at 1:30 has resumed.  We are glad to be back!  It was a joy to see everyone again.  Please feel free to join us for an hour of service and gospel discussion!  We meet in the small dining room at the east end of the main downstairs dining room.

Bible Study:  Bible Study – a 5 week study on the Gospel of Mark begins Monday February 5 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm here at Trinity Church. Come when you are able, no need to commit to the whole series if your schedule does not permit. You can bring your own bible if you life or use one from the church.

Trivia Night with the Kiwanis!:  The Kirksville Kiwanis are sponsoring a Trivia Night and Silent Auction on March 3, 6 pm – 10 pm at the El Kadir Shrine to raise funds for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program. The entry fee is $25 per person and teams can have as many as 8 people. If you are interested in being part of a Trinity team, see Amy for more details.

Celebration of Ministry: Save the date of May 3rd at 7 pm for our Celebration of Ministry with Bishop Wayne Smith.

Women’s Ecumenical Lenten Retreat:  Saturday February 17 9 am – 3 pm at the Truman Newman Center, 709 S. Davis Rd in Kirksville. This opportunity is being offered to us by our friends at Mary Immaculate Parish and will be a great opportunity to both deepen our Lenten devotion and worship with new friends.
