Migration Issues and Current Political Climate:

Bishop Smith has issued a statement concerning family separation nad refugees on the US southern border. You can read his statement at www.diocesemo.org/news/2018/06/20/bishop-waynesmiths-statement-family-separation-and-refugees
If the current political climate has moved to work with other Episcopalians for change, here are some options for you.
  • the Office of Governmental Relations/The Episcopal Public Policy Network is our voice in Washington. These two groups speak the mind of the Episcopal Church as we determine it at General Convention to our elected officials. You can learn more about them at www.episcopalchurch.org/office-government-relations
  • The Episcopal Migration Ministries works helping immigrants and refugees settle in the US, as well as addressing policy issues that affect these people. You can learn more about their work at https://episcopalmigrationministries.org
  • The Episcopal Peace Fellowship works on a variety of issues to promote the Gospel of Peace as preached by Jesus Christ. You can learn about them at www.epfnational.org

Have you been following Presiding Bishop Michael Curry?  Bishop Curry delivered the sermon at the royal wedding, has appeared on talk shows and the news recently – but did you know that he is part of 23 “elders” from several denominations who spent Ash Wednesday together praying and deliberating about a response to current events?  “Reclaiming Jesus” is the result of their work (http://reclaimingjesus.org).  About 2,500 people participated in a service at the National City Christian Church, procession, and vigil at the gates of the White House on May 24. Since then, more than 100,000 people have viewed the livestream of that event and the Reclaiming Jesus video has had more than 3 million views.  The core of this movement is expressed in “Reclaiming Jesus: a Confession of Faith in a Time of Crisis” – and a summary will be available for you after worship this Sunday.  You can also obtain a full copy of the statement and other materials at the website above.

Adult Formation:  will meet at the Point at Thousand Hills State Park at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesdays, beginning June 13.  Topic:  Brene Brown’s “The Gifts of Imperfection.”  Bring a “sack supper” if you like.
