Plate Offering:  Plate Offering this Sunday, January 20 – for Kirksville’s I Think I Can Foundation as they enter their 10th year “leveling the playing field” for Kirksville students who lack access to food, funds for extracurricular activities, support for learning.  For more information, see this week’s article in the Kirksville Daily Express at: https://www.kirksvilledailyexpress.com/news/20190114/foundation-funds-school-supplies-for-english-language-learners.

Dedication of Habitat for Humanity house in Kirksville:  The house we supported with a plate offering last year has finally been finished.  The family was able to celebrate Christmas in their new home!  Dedication is Sunday, January 20, at 3 p.m.  Thank you, everyone!

Sharing Coffee and Jewels: Saturday, January 26, 10 am to noon.  Our dear friend Joanne had a large collection of costume jewelry.  Her family has asked us to make sure that her friends and parish family have an opportunity to receive a gift of one or two pieces to remember her by.  Join us for Joanne memories, coffee, goodies, and jewelry in the undercroft. If you are unable to attend and would like something saved for you, please contact Krista Baker or Diane Johnson.

Souper Bowl Sunday:  You may not care who wins the Super Bowl on February 3rd, but you can help the Pantry for Adair County (PAC) win at feeding our needy neighbors. Trinity will collect soup between Sunday January 13th and Sunday February 3rd for the pantry. Place your donations in the lavender tote at the back of the church. Thank you.

Children’s Items Needed:  With the growing number of children and families now coming to Trinity, we have need of a high chair or two and booster seats. If you have any of these items or know someone who does, and can donate them to Trinity, please speak to Amy or e-mail her at amy.fallon08@gmail.com.

Annual Meeting and Potluck:  Sunday, January 27, after church.  Please plan to attend this festive occasion and bring a dish to share.  Signup sheet is in the undercroft.

Ministry Heads:  Friendly reminder that annual reports for each of your ministries are due now for inclusion in the written annual report for the parish, to be shared with the congregation at the annual meeting on January 27.  Please contact Diane Johnson if you have any concerns or questions.

Bible Study on the Book of Psalms – on Tuesday nights from 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm beginning on January 29 and running until February 26. All are welcome, come when you can, bring a friend!

Close the Gap Campaign Update:  The generosity of Trinity members and friends has been amazing. Although some money is still coming in, as of December 31st, we raised over $4500 BEFORE the anonymous donor match of $2000! That means we have cut into the deficit by at least $6500 or by 28%.  Thank you to everyone who has supported this campaign with their money and prayers. While we still have a ways to go, your contributions have helped Trinity start 2019 with a better financial foundation.

Diocesan Statement on Gun Storage: This past spring, the Bishop and the Diocesan Council approved this statement on safe gun storage: “The Council of the Episcopal Diocese of Missouri implores gun owners to lock and secure weapons against use by children or those suffering from agonizing despair. Please ensure that all guns in your home are locked and secured against use by children or those suffering agonizing despair.”

Seeds! Seeds! Free Seeds!  I went a tad bit overboard in my seed-buying this year, and I have many slightly older seeds—still quite viable—available for free.  Plant a little more thickly that usual—especially the cucurbits.  On Sunday 20 January, I’ll bring them with some small baggies for folks to take some home for planting.

Bush Beans—green, yellow, purple mix;

Cole—mixed multicolor Asian Greens (use ‘em small for salads and stir-fries);

Cucurbit—Zucchini (green, gold, stripey); Summer Squash (yellow and a few pattypan); Cucumbers (pickler/small fresh, and smaller amount of slicer and striped “Armenian”); Winter Squash (small acorn, butternut, kabocha (like a medium-sized orange hubbard);

Lettuce—mixed colors and varieties.

Food Depot: Canned Soup (no cream soup).

Little Free Food Pantry:  Food and sundries that stand up to freezing.
