Bursars Diane Johnson and Natalie Alexander

Adult Formation:

Talie Alexander will be leading us through three Godly Play sessions and we will learn how adults can enter into this way of understanding the narratives of Scripture.  Godly Play isn’t just for children anymore–many people are using it at nursing homes and hospitals with adults.  The series will last three weeks, and should be an enjoyable and enlightening time!

toiletriesLast Sunday for Epiphany Toiletry Drive:  When you go to the dentist, do all those toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, etc. start piling up?  When you stay in a motel, do you grab up the complementary toiletries in the room “just in case,” and find you have a bathroom drawer full of them when you get home?  Do you have a little change to spare on the “travel toiletries” aisle at the store?  Have we got an opportunity for you!

Karen Henness has made a lovely gift box for Epiphany to collect those items, and our plan is to give them to a ministry that serves the homeless (most likely Room at the Inn, the cold-weather overnight shelter in Columbia.)  Over the Epiphany season, bring your spare (unused) toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, and travel size toiletry items to church and place them in the box in the undercroft.  These are some of the most requested items that homeless people ask for at shelters.

Potluck

Annual Meeting and Pot Luck:  The Annual Meeting is January 29th after church.  Want to bring something delicious to share to the potluck at the annual meeting? Great! Just sign up for a salad, a casserole or soup, side dish, bread or crackers, or dessert on the list in the undercroft, please. The list is important because it allows us to fill in. If you know exactly what dish you’ll bring, it helps to know that too. Let’s enjoy some good cooking on the 29th!

In preparation for the Annual Meeting on January 29th, please take the opportunity to review the Annual Meeting Report prior to the meeting. It will be available in church on January 22nd as well as on the parish website.

Bri Rhodes’ Last Sunday:  Bri Rhodes will be taking a new job in North Dakota and pursuing doctoral work there. This Sunday will be her last with us. She has been a joy in our midst, lending her strength to the Bishop’s Committee, the Food 4 Kids program, and many adult formation sessions. Please come to see her off on her new adventure!

Take Root Cafe Seeks Volunteers:  Have an hour or more to volunteer? Take Root Cafe is looking for volunteers to give 1-3 hours between 11am and 4pm.  Volunteer tasks include  bussing or washing dishes, cleaning, sweeping, dusting, and greeting guests.  To sign up in advance call (660) 956-4671 or email jessica@takerootkirksville.org, or just walk in.

2016 Giving Statements: 2016 Giving Statements are available! Please pick up your 2016 giving statement from the small sack on the table at the back of the church. Look over it carefully and please let the treasurer know if you see any problems. Thanks! Krista

Parish Register: Historically parish registers have been a norm in Episcopal churches. In recent times we have not maintained this information here at Trinity. As part of working with the old files and parish records, we are recognizing the value this provides. It also helps a great deal when we are asked how many people are on our register. Each year we provide this information to the Episcopal Church. We would like to be as correct as possible. To this end we are starting an effort to create a current parish register. Please take a few minutes to complete your entry in the folder in the undercroft. Thank you!

Bishop’s Visit and Baptism/Confirmation/Reception:  Bishop Smith will be with us April 2nd.  If you would like to be baptized or have children you would like baptized, this is the next opportunity to do that. If you have been attending Trinity but have not joined in any official way, this is the time to do that, and it can happen in a couple of different ways. If you have never been confirmed in the Episcopal Church or any other tradition, you can be confirmed when Bishop Smith is here. If you come from a tradition where you have been confirmed you can be received into the Episcopal Church.  Please speak with Carrol soon if you would like to explore baptism, confirmation or reception.

Home Eucharist:  We do not yet have Home Eucharists scheduled for 2017. If you would be willing to host one, please speak to Carrol.
