July Adult Formation

July 12 – Julia DeLancey

This Adult Formation discussion will focus on the idea of disability.  It will look at some various ways we can think about the concept of “disability” and how those affect how we interact with and care for one another.  Some additional resources for further exploration will also be made available.

July 19 – Joni Perry

Joni will lead a discussion about mental health – how we can support those around in who are struggling with mental health issues as well as how we can get them the kind of help that might be necessary.

July 26 – Carrol Davenport

We will talk about how we can support and be present with people who are seriously or terminally ill as well as how we support people in grief.

OrdinationMaria’s Ordination: Many of us were at the Cathedral on Thursday evening to share in the joyous occasion of the ordination to the priesthood of Maria Evans. It was a lovely service with joy abounding! Maria will be with us at Trinity on her first Sunday as a priest. She will be both the preacher and the presiding priest at the Eucharist. We will also say goodbye to Maria as she leaves us to serve Church of the Good Shepherd in Town and Country as well as the newly forming Community of St. Brigid.

Richard Rohr Webcast Viewing Opportunity:  On Thursday, July 6th at 6:00 p.m we will gather to view The Universal Christ: An Archetype for Everything.  Here is what his website says about this webcast;

There is only Christ: he is everything and he is in everything. —Colossians 3:11
In the end . . . God will be all in all. —1 Corinthians 15:28

Richard Rohr explores the long hidden and misunderstood wisdom of the cosmic, universal Christ. Christ is much larger and older than either Jesus of Nazareth or the Christian religion. The Christ is whenever the material and the divine co-exist—which is always and everywhere.

Christ reveals the end from the beginning: a benevolent, creative force of Life and Love at the center of the universe. Christ draws all things, even our “sins” and suffering, toward wholeness and healing. This gives us great hope and direction!

Unfortunately, our calculating minds have a hard time living inside of such abundance. Grace is the consummate threat to our ego and separateness, to our ideas of right and wrong.

Over his month-long hermitage this spring, Richard worked on a new book (to be released in 2018). In this webcast, Richard draws from his recent time in solitude to share new reflections. He offers a lens by which to see the foundational pattern of death and resurrection: the Christ, or as he puts it, “another word for everything.”

Coffee Hour: We are in need of some coffee hour helpers for the month of July.  There are crackers and several gluten free products in the kitchen.  Grab some cookies or donuts at the store and host a coffee.  July 9, 16, 23, and 30 are open.  Thanks to all who serve.

yoga-frogsSecond Saturdays Yoga:  Second Saturdays Yoga – Dust off your mat and join us for Second Saturdays Yoga on July 8 at 11:45 a.m. in the undercroft.  $5 donation goes to the building fund loan.

A New Ministry:  The interim has given us opportunity to expand the ministry of lay people here at Trinity. Before the Rev. Maria Evans finished her time here in her role as deacon, she trained a group of lay Eucharistic Visitors.  While clergy will likely continue to visit those who can’t be with us, the ministry of taking communion will now be a shared ministry.  Here are the people who have been trained to do this ministry:  Diane Johnson, Dennis Goodman, Joanne Harwood, Talie Alexander, Krista Baker and Karen and Gene Croarkin.

Anniversary Note and Donation:  This week the church received mail from St. Thomas Deaf Episcopal Church in St. Louis, MO. We received a monetary donation and the following note in acknowledgement of our Anniversary Celebration. Thank you very much, St. Thomas Deaf Episcopal Church and the Rev. Dr. Emily Hillquist Davis, Vicar.

Dear Friends,

We had a Vestry meeting on TRINITY SUNDAY and shared you letter with our congregation. Centennial Blessings and Love in Christ from St. Thomas Deaf Church and Rev Emily+
