Graphic of November Fall Back

Fall Back:  Daylight Savings time ends this Sunday morning at 2 a.m. This is the time when we “fall back” and gain an hour of nighttime and extra sleep. Before you go to bed on Saturday night, please set your clocks BACK one hour, so you will be on time for all your activities on Sunday.

Stewardship Campaign: Please remember to write your name on your pledge card and include it in the plate collection this Sunday – our 100th anniversary celebration!  Many thanks for your prayers, kind words, and your spirit of generosity (which sustain us all!).

Walkers ‘Beating the Bounds’ of Pastry Parish, Kent UK

Beating the Bounds:  As part of our 100th Anniversary Celebration, we are beating the bounds of Trinity’s property. This ritual derives from a medieval English custom, done during the spring planting season and/or the fall harvest season. At a time when most people were illiterate and maps were scarce, beating the bounds helped establish property lines and rights in communal memory. The parish priest, accompanied by the parish members would walk the boundaries of all the properties within the parish, reminding everyone of the extent and limits of their own and their neighbors’ properties. This custom has been adapted for modern use and is now limited to walking the lines of a church property. It is used to celebrate significant anniversaries in a parish’s life or on the church’s patronal feast day.

Please join is at 10 am this Sunday on the sidewalk in front of the accessible entrance to Trinity Church on Harrison St. We will process around the property, stopping to give thanks and pray for the gift of our building, our land, and the people who have made Trinity a vital part of the Kirksville community for 100 years.

Maintenance Notes:  Some work on the vicarage will take place in November.  Rob Clement, our contractor, is hoping to start on outside windowsills next week.  Kenny Jackson is waiting for a light fixture for the kitchen hallway to complete the electrical work.  We hope to have that installed next week.

Little Food Pantry:  We have been given a large box of taco seasoning mixes for the Little Free Food Pantry.  Do you have a simple, tasty recipe that uses (or could use) such a mix?  We would like to include your recipe (and possibly some other ingredients) in “kits” for LFFP users.  See Diane if you are willing to share a recipe!

Food Depot:  Our Food Depot items for November: Peanut Butter & Jelly/Thanksgiving freewill choices—check sale items!

Lectionary Readings:

Micah 3:5-12
Psalm 43
1 Thessalonians 2:9-13
Matthew 23:1-12
